The level 1 Diploma aims to develop learners’ knowledge and awareness of health, social care and children’s and young people’s settings. You will gain an understanding of aspects of working in health & social care and early years and childcare. You will complete a portfolio of all knowledge gained throughout the course.
The level 2 diploma provides you with the opportunity to study a range of topics from 3 main areas: childcare and education; babysitting and parenting responsibilities; and making an informed decision about progression into further study in this area. You will complete a portfolio showing an understanding of the issues surrounding the subject of childcare including: learning development of young children, equality and diversity, and contributing to a positive environment for young children. This course also requires attendance at a placement throughout the course.
The course is free to 16-19 year old learners. A bursary to assist with travel and day to day costs may be awarded dependent on circumstances.
You need to show you have an interest in working with children and young people in an educational setting. You will also work towards progressing to gain further qualifications within English and maths. Your current qualifications will determine the level on which you can start.
This course is available in Bradford, Dewsbury, Hull, Leeds and Wakefield.
